Musk takes over Tesla’s Europe, U.S. sales after Afshar’s exit

AFSHAR was responsible for Tesla sales and manufactures in North America and Europe before leaving the EV maker late last month. After leaving, Musk and Tom Zhu, First Vice president, prepare the reporting lines where Tesla looks to recover from another quarter of the declining delivery operations.

Zhu, who is based in China, will continue to oversee Tesla sales in Asia and take over the world levels, according to persons familiar with the changes, who refused to define them to discuss private information.

It is not clear whether the revised management structure is always or if the reporting lines can change.

Zhu joined Tesla in April 2014 and soon rose over the ranks, which led to the construction and opening of the first factory abroad in Shanghai as vice president of the Greater China. In April 2023, he was promoted to the first vice president of auto operations, expanding his jurisdiction to global production, sales, delivery, service, and moving to the United States.

Tesla Zhu returned to China and returned to a regional role more last year, after Tesla faced a number of technological and regulatory obstacles related to launching advanced driver assistance features.
