Crayola building kits recalled nationwide over death risk from magnets

A popular Crayola-branded magnetic building set has been recalled across the country due to a risk of “serious injury or death” associated with possible ingestion of loose magnets.
Nearly 9,400 CreateOn Crayola-branded pip-Cube sets are being removed from store shelves after officials discovered that internal magnets could break off, according to a notice issued Thursday from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
“When high-energy magnets are ingested, the ingested magnets can attract to each other, or to other metal objects, and become lodged in the digestive tract,” the CPSC warned. “This can lead to perforations, torsion, and/or intestinal obstruction, blood poisoning and death.”
