‘No UPI = no business,’ say netizens as Bengaluru vendors accept only cash

While the owners of stores in Bangaluru refuse to accept payments via UPI, social media users said they will not shop in places that do not support UPI as a way to pay. One of the users in the last Reddit post said that being poor does not mean that the sellers will not pay taxes.
It also highlighted how taxes are imposed on the salary category in India at every turn and how they need to go through a lot of paperwork to obtain basic advantages.
“I see multiple reports that the sellers are now demanding money because they have reached the limit of UPI and they must pay taxes on them. We, taxes are imposed on salaries at each turn. In order to claim $ 20,000 in treatment for my parents, we need to provide bills, and we go through accountability and so on.”
The user also said that the simplest way in which Bengluorians can protest this by paying only through UPI.
“We cannot join and protest on the street to cancel the bicycle and ride of arrows, or any plans such as $ 2000 for women, or chicken rice for dogs because we must win, and to stay away from any police issues, etc., but the simplest way you can protest is to pay only in your place, so do not only tax.
Here is what social media users said
Internet users have agreed to take the original poster, saying they would also boycott these sellers who refuse to accept UPI.
One user wrote: “100 % agree, if I am forced to pay only cash, I will go to another store. I will not divide my head who pulls the money from the ATMs, then pay the service fees in addition to that for frequent withdrawal. Damn on this shit!”
Another user said: “No UPI = Go to the next store!”
“Use Blinkit/Zepto if they don’t accept UPI. I personally hate fast trade platforms but in this case I do not mind using them,” a user commented.
“Certainly, why should part of the residents who pay taxes escape? It is not as if they are all poor, I am very sure that the sellers who protest this matter are very rich, very clear, and they earn more, and thus the imposition of taxes. They may be richer than the company’s employees who pay taxes on the minimum they earn. The fourth user has not written.
Why do the sellers say in Bangaluru “only criticism”?
In Bangaluru, many young sellers choose digital payments due to concerns about tax authority procedures. The Commercial Tax Administration has sent goods and services tax notifications to companies whose activities indicate higher transformations than the legal limits, which raised concerns among the sellers.
HD Arun Kumar, former former commission of commercial taxes in Karnataka, stressed the importance of accuracy in the numbers reported, indicating that commodity and services tax authorities should not rely on unlimited numbers for rotation, according to a report in The Times of India.
The increase in goods and services tax notifications in the street vendors and small store owners caused the fear of potential evacuation. Vinay K Sreenivasa of the Union of Associations of Bangaluru Street Associations pointed to the anxiety caused by these notifications between the sellers.
The most prominent former GST is a major case and said Upi is not always related to business and can be informal loans or funds from family and friends. This prompted many sellers to return to cash transactions.
BJP MLA S Suresh Kumar intends to appeal to Prime Minister Siddaraiaiah to intervene. Meanwhile, the Karenataka tax authorities face pressure to achieve the target of revenue of 1.20 rupees for the money for the financial year. Aaron Kumar emphasized that the commodity and services tax laws require tax employees to provide strong evidence before imposing any tax demands, which confirms the need for comprehensive tax assessments.
