Not everyone is thrilled with Threads’ DMs

Earlier this week, Instagram interconnected indicators have launched what the company said was a more demanding feature so far: direct messages (DMS). However, the company is now facing a little violent reaction to the user, as users primarily argue that there should be a way to disturb DMS completely, indicating to harassment concerns.
Although DMS is part of other social networks that resemble themes, including X, Bluesky, Mastodon and some of them, some thread users appreciate that they were not a previous choice.
“I don’t want to receive DM’s DM’s. How can I turn off this thing? I ask on behalf of all women,” a user has been posted on the basic system.
“Wonderful. More ways for women to prepare online,” she said.
“Congratulations on adding the feature only the prosecutions who were interested in it,” and they are in the third.
Many others responded to the DMS announcement, which was shared on the topics by Instagram president Adam Museri. Through dozens of publications, some of these users wrote that they did not want DMS or claim that “no one is asking for this.” One person pointed to a poll with thousands of voices, as themers of themes indicated that they prefer an overwhelming majority not to obtain the DM feature. Many of them asked if there was a way to stop the feature. (Not there.)
While the harassment is one concern, others are worried about the inserted mail boxes that are flooded by robots, random mail and unwanted communication.
The way the system is currently designed, you should follow a user for them to get a DM option for you. If this person is bothering you, the cancellation of his follow -up will cancel his access to your inbox. (For a more nuclear option, you can choose to block the user, which it prohibits on Instagram as well).
It can be said that those who are upset with adding the feature are more likely to share their ideas online – similar to how consumers tend to spread bad reviews of companies on places such as Google and Yelp maps, but not their positive experiences.
However, those who complain may have a point. With the growth of the social media platform, adding new features can cause the culture already to be disabled. It changes the creation of a non -general method for users to interact how some people want to use themes. Meanwhile, users’ lack of control of the experiment, such as the option to cancel the subscription, makes them feel unable.
Meta may have felt that by linking DMS to followers, it was giving users a way to determine who could reach them in particular. But what the company has failed to understand is that on a general social network such as topics, users may find themselves following people who want to read, but, as strangers, they prefer to keep their distance.
