NVIDIA GPUs to power Oracle’s next-gen enterprise AI services

Oracle and NVIDIA expand their partnership to make enterprise AI services more available, powerful, and practical. The announcements, made during Oracle AI World, cover everything from extremely powerful new hardware to deeply integrated software that aims to put AI at the heart of a company’s data.

“With this latest collaboration, Oracle and NVIDIA are defining a new frontier in edge-accelerated computing – simplifying database AI pipelines, accelerating data processing, supporting enterprise use cases, and making it easier to deploy and scale inference on OCI,” said Ian Buck, vice president of Hyper-High-Performance Computing at NVIDIA.

The major announcement is the new OCI Zettascale10 compute cluster. This platform is accelerated by NVIDIA GPUs and is specifically designed for the kind of AI training and inference workloads that would make the average server cry.

The OCI Zettascale10 promises 16 zettaflops of the highest AI computing performance and is interfaced with NVIDIA’s Spectrum-X Ethernet, a network fabric specifically designed to prevent GPUs from sitting around waiting for data, allowing enterprises to efficiently scale up to millions of processors.

But raw power is only half the story. The real heart of this partnership lies in software integrations that aim to weave AI into every layer of a company’s operations.

“OCI Zettascale10 delivers multi-gigawatt capacity for the most challenging AI workloads with NVIDIA’s next-generation GPU platform,” commented Mahesh Thiagarajan, Executive Vice President, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

“In addition, the native availability of NVIDIA AI Enterprise on OCI gives our joint customers a leading AI toolset on hand for more than 200 OCI cloud services, supporting a long line of customer innovations.”

Give your Oracle database a brain with AI

The foundation of this new strategy is Oracle AI Database 26ai. For years, conventional wisdom has been to move your data where the AI ​​models are. Oracle turns that on its head, arguing that it’s safer and more efficient to bring AI to your data. This latest version of the database is the embodiment of the “Data AI” vision.

“By designing AI and data together, Oracle AI Database makes Data AI easy to learn and easy to use,” said Juan Loaiza, executive vice president of Oracle Database Technologies at Oracle. “We enable our customers to deliver trusted AI insights, innovation, and productivity to all their data, everywhere, including all of their systems.” Operational and analytical data lakes.”

One notable feature is the ability to run AI workflows within your database. AI agents can address complex questions by combining your organization’s private, sensitive data with public information, all without having to move that private data outside of your secure environment. This is made possible through features like Unified Hybrid Vector Search, which allows AI to search for context across all your data types, whether it’s in a relational table, a JSON file, or a spatial map.

It’s also clear that Oracle is thinking the long game about security. The new database applies NIST-certified quantum-resistant algorithms to data in flight and at rest. It’s a defense against “harvest now, decrypt later” attacks, where hackers steal encrypted data today in hopes of cracking it using future quantum computers.

“Great AI needs great data,” commented Holger Mueller, Vice President and Principal Analyst at Constellation Research. “With Oracle AI Database 26ai, customers get both. It’s the only place their business data lives — fresh, consistent, and secure. And it’s the best place to use AI on that data without moving it around.”

“To help simplify and accelerate AI adoption, AI Database 26ai includes impressive new AI features that go beyond AI Vector Search. One of the highlights is Oracle’s Agent AI design in Database, enabling customers to build, deploy, and manage AI agents within the database using a no-code visual platform that includes built-in agents pre.”

The new database is designed to work with the NVIDIA toolkit. Its programming interfaces can now plug directly into NVIDIA NeMo Retriever, a set of microservices that handle the complex plumbing of modern enterprise AI.

This makes it easier for developers to do things like augmented recovery generation, or RAG. In simple terms, RAG allows a language model to search for relevant facts in your company documents before it answers a question, making its answers more accurate and useful.

The Oracle Private AI services container will also get a GPU-powered boost. This container allows companies to run AI models in their own secure environment. Soon, it will be able to offload the heavy lifting of generating vector embeddings — a fundamental task for AI research — to powerful NVIDIA GPUs using the cuVS library. This promises to reduce the time it takes to prepare data for AI applications.

Democratizing AI in enterprises

Beyond the database, the partnership aims to simplify the entire AI pipeline. The new Oracle AI Data Platform now includes an integrated NVIDIA GPU option and NVIDIA RAPIDS Accelerator for Apache Spark. For data scientists and engineers, this is a big deal. This means they can accelerate data processing and machine learning workflows using GPUs, often without having to change a single line of their existing code.

All of these tools and capabilities are integrated within Oracle AI Hub. The idea is to give organizations one place to build, deploy and manage their AI solutions. From the hub, users can deploy NVIDIA’s NIM microservices — which are like pre-packaged AI skills — through a simple, no-code interface.

To lower the barrier to entry even further, the full NVIDIA AI Enterprise software suite is now available natively within the OCI console. This means that a developer can create a GPU instance and enable all the necessary NVIDIA tools with a few clicks, rather than going through a separate purchase. It’s a simple change that makes a big difference in how quickly teams get started.

This collaboration is clearly aimed at solving real-world challenges that companies face when trying to adopt AI. By bringing hardware, data, and software tools into one cohesive ecosystem, Oracle and NVIDIA confirm that the era of practical, secure, and scalable enterprise AI has truly arrived.
