NYC cleaning lady recalls terrifying encounter with Manhattan office shooter

A cleaning worker in New York City has now spoke to the shooter in the Manhattan office’s building attack now about her terrifying confrontation, saying she was “very scared” and hid in a wardrobe for hours until the police arrived.

Sibi Nilovic said that the gunman Shane Tamura came out of the elevators, and pointed his rifle directly to her and began shooting through the glass reception on the 33rd floor of 345 Park Avenue on Monday evening, according to the New York Times.

“I started shooting around me. I put my hand and said:” I am a cleaning lady, I am a cleaning lady! “But I realized – it comes with a machine gun. He will not know who I am. He will shoot, regardless of what. ”

Nilovic, 65, ran into the hallway and closed herself in a wardrobe.

“I started to pray,” Nilovic recalls in the statement. “He shot the door to the cabinet and I was very afraid, but I was fine. I heard that he was walking in the hallway.”

Nilovic said that she remembered that the victim Julia Heyman from Roden Manjint was supposed to be on her office and thought “God, helped her.”

The cleaning worker also said that her supervisor started contacting her and sending her to know if she was safe. The New York Times told the supervisor that “the man is on my ground!”

“I told him that I was in a treasury, and I told me to stay there,” Nilovic added in the statement issued by its federation, according to the New York Post. “I was afraid of causing noise, so I turned off my phone. I sat in the cabinet for two hours, and perhaps three hours. I was praying.”

The agitation ended when Tamura gave the Venice to itself. Nilovic finally left the building after the police arrived.

Heiman was one of the four victims of the shooting.

“It was very nice,” Nilovic told the New York Times. “I feel very sorry for her. I feel very sorry for everyone.”

Nilovic added that she will not return to 345 Park Avenue in the aftermath of the shooting.
