OpenAI delays the release of its open model, again

The CEO of Openai Sam Altman said on Friday that the company is postponing its open model, which was already regained a month before this summer. Openai had planned to release the model next week, yet Altman said the company is paying it indefinitely for more safety tests.

Altman said in a post on X.

The Openai Open Model version is one of the most expected events in the summer, along with the expected Chatgpt-Maker version of GPT-5. Unlike GPT-5, the OpenAI Open will be available to developers to download and operate locally freely. Through each of these launches, Openai will try to prove that it is still a leader in Silicon Valley Lab – an increasingly difficult task like Xai, Google DeepMind, and Fanthropic Bloods of dollars in their own efforts.

Delay means that developers will have to wait a little longer to try the first open model that has been released years ago. Techcrunch previously stated that the OpenAi model is expected to have the capabilities of the Opening series O for the company, and that Openai has planned to be better in its class compared to other open models.

The ecosystem of open -minded intelligence models has become more competitive this week. Earlier on Friday, AI, the AI, launched the AI Kimi K2, an AI trillion parameter that excels the GPT-4.1 model of Openaii on many coding standards.

In June, when Altman announced the initial delay about the Openai Open model, he indicated that the company had achieved something “unexpected and very amazing”, but he did not explain what it was.

“The Openai”, Vice president of Openai, who leads the Open Model team, said in a publication at X Frica –

Techcrunch previously reported that Openai leaders have discussed the empowerment of the AI Open model to connect to the artificial intelligence models hosted by the cloud of the complex intelligence company. However, it is not clear whether these features will make them in the final open model.
