Trump announces 50% tariff on all Brazilian imports starting in August

president Donald Trump has announced a 50 % tariff on all Brazilian imports, separating the definitions of the sector, starting from August 1.
In a letter to Brazilian President Luise Inosio Lula da Silva, who actually posted on his social account, Trump was martyred in the “unfair” commercial relationship in the United States with the United States, her treatment of former President Gere Bolsonaro, and her attacks on free elections and violations of American freedom of expression rights as reasons for clinging.

Trump wrote in the letter: “It is partly due to the malicious Brazil attacks on free elections and the basic rights of the Americans … starting from August 1, 2025, we will impose a 50 % fee on Brazil on any Brazilian products sent to the United States, separate from all sectoral definitions,” Trump wrote in the letter. “The goods that were transported to evade this tariff will be subject to a 50 % of this high tariff.”

In the letter to Lula Brazilian, Trump added that the two countries had years to discuss their commercial relationship, which he described as “far from mutual.” The American president also described the way in which Brazilian President Brazilian President Polsonaro treated as an “international disgrace”.

“I knew and dealt with former President Geer Bolsonaro, and I had a great luck, as did most of the other leaders of the countries,” Trump said. “This experience should not occur. It is a charming chase that must end immediately!”
Trump concluded the message by warning Lula that if revenge by lifting the customs tariff, any retaliatory tariff will be added to the 50 % tariff that the United States receives. The US President also said that he is launching an investigation into Brazil’s commercial practices.

He said: “In addition, because Brazil’s attacks on American companies ‘digital trade activities, as well as other unfair trading practices, I am directing the United States’ commercial representative, Jameson Jarir to start the investigation immediately in section 301 of Brazil.”
Trump raises ads about commercial negotiations with seven countries
Earlier on Wednesday, Trump announced higher tariff rates on six countries in a group of social media. The last round of Trump’s commercial ads included Libya, Iraq, Algeria, Moldova, Brunei and the Philippines.

The Philippine has been shipped with a 20 % tariff rate. Buronai and Moldova were 25 %, while Trump imposed 30 % rates on Algeria, Iraq and Libya.
Trump has published pictures of the messages of each country regarding the new tariff rates on his social platform. Definitions will start on August 1.

The ads came after Trump recently said that if 14 countries have not reached a trade agreement with the United States by the beginning of next month, they will return to the levels specified in April.
