Ninja Swirl by Creami review: This might be the ultimate home ice cream maker

The original Ninja Creami became a viral success a few years ago when it took the technology from the $ 5,000 commercial ice cream makers and distilled it into something you can buy at less than $ 200. As CREAMI is in sorbets, gelatos, and Smoothie Bowls, there is still an unimaginable classic frozen treatment: soft service. But now there is a new addition to the family, a vortex by CREAMI, and with it Ninja may have just created a home ice cream machine in the end.
Design and features
Instead of engineering a completely new and multi -purpose device, Ninja mainly taking the creamy and installed in a soft service unit on the side. Then you deal with a large handle, so you still get this physical feeling by pulling it down to distribute your ice creation.
This may seem a bit raw from the design perspective, but let’s be honest, the vortex of any cosmetic competitions will not win. More importantly, it is a somewhat clear and effective approach. This is because when you don’t provide a soft service, you can simply rotate a set of ordinary ice cream with one of the half -liter containers. However, if you go to something smooth and delicate, things become more complicated.
In addition to the standard racket cover, the vortex has a special summit that you need to use when providing a soft service. The machine uses a new PINT container that contains a smart but somewhat difficult nozzle to distribute the mentioned soft service. You need to keep a twist cover at the bottom closed for traditional blocked sweets, but open to soft service. It is better not to forget, because if you do not close it along the way while freezing the base of the ice cream, you will stumble. This is not good because the container will not fit with the device unless half a liter is completely closed, so you will get rid of the parts that you find until you do so. Unfortunately, if you are not planning to provide a soft service, you cannot use classic Creami Mcique because they are not compatible (although before, vortex covers and their containers are safe).
The potential obstacle with a spiral design, especially for people who live in apartments or places with small kitchens, is that about twice the size of the standard cream. It is 15.1 x 10 x 17.5 inches and weighs 20 pounds. This means that you have to find a great place to hide it, unless you live in a palace, because this thing will not live on your countertopic.

One of the best things in the vortex is that he can do everything that the cream can practically and more. This is because, in addition to standard ice cream modes, ice cream, gelato, drink and pulsex, there are new options for frozen milk, fruit whip, frozen custard and so -called gloomy.
Most of these are self -clarification, but there is some interpretation warranty. The fruit whip is often frozen with a little sugar -mixed sugar in something that resembles more healthy sherbet (such as these delicious pineapple). I also appreciate that there is a dedicated position for frozen frozen, which is richer and generous than traditional ice cream (often due to the inclusion of the additional egg yolk). Since it is difficult to find outside the southern and Middle West, this is another welcome. Finally, Creamifit is a new term for high protein fabrications that are often characterized by ingredients such as whey, home cheese or Greek yogurt. It effectively converts the farce to exercise into frozen treatments.

When you are ready to hit a group, Ninja made things simple by dividing the functions of the machine into two main categories: one for regular treatments and the other for soft service. The name you will not see is the one that reaches Smoothie Bowls, a preparation available on old models. I have found that omission was not a big problem because it is based on the type of texture you are looking for, the milk or cream settings are viable alternatives.
Another improvement on the original CREAMI is that Ninja has updated the mixing modes of the spiral so that it gets the correct consistency without the need to re -back down. In my test, I say that the company allowed it. Often with its predecessor, I had to put the ice cream to go before I was happy, but not with the new device. This applies to both soft service and regular sweets. Moreover, the vortex is also quieter. It was granted, still loudly at about 80 dB of about six feet. But compared to the primary cream (about 82 dB), who routinely sent my three -year -old son running out of the kitchen when I used it, it is a slight improvement. So, although you will not want to watch the TV in the same room, you can still at least a conversation.
Soft service: taste believes
If you want to provide a soft service, after using the standard paddle cover (left) to rotate your ice cream base, you will need to connect the customized Ninja service cover (right) before cutting a full half liter to the hole on the left side of the device.

If you can deal with the most involved vortex process, the rewards deserve it. This thing can really produce a good soft service just as you can buy from your local store or a friendly neighborhood truck. In fact, I would like to claim that your creativity may be better because you can control what is happening in it. Certainly, you can follow the recipes. But just like its predecessor, the magic of the vortex is that as long as you follow some basic instructions, you can throw anything together and will taste the divine. This is exactly what I did in the first test batch.
Like many parents, I try to reduce food waste as much as possible. Instead of throwing some old strawberries and cutting pineapple at the end of the week, add them, add a splash of lemon juice and mix everything with a third of a cup of sugar. After leaving it in the fruit a little, they simply hung them in a half -container and freezing it overnight. The next day, I set the device to prepare the fruit whip, rotate it and then replaced it in the soft ninja service cover before withdrawing on the handle. Cursed, was good.

The consistency of the fruit whip was very soft without any large ice crystals, the flavor was like an explosive tropical fruit bowl in my mouth. But the best part is that it costs almost nothing, because its ingredients may have ended in trash in many families.
Next, I collected some of the soft chocolate (using this recipe from Ninja test kitchen) because this is my favorite flavor in three years. Instead of using the usual full milk, heavy cream and cocoa powder, I switched this chocolate milk in Fairlife. This is not limited to increasing the amount of protein, but this brand is also lactose. This has led to a fine, delicate, delicate service with almost a mouthpiece that every person enjoyed in my family (including my unbelieving lactose wife). Classic was properly done.
After that, I tried another free recipe by cutting some of the marashino cherry (Get Locardo if you can) and add this excess to some drink to some of the milk of hormonal life and coconut cream. Soft service preparation is a great job in adding a lot of air to ice cream with mixing to help ensure a light and velvety texture, but only to be safe, I also added a teaspoon of xanthane glue to the mixture. Everything was mixed as usual, the crane and Woela pulled: high rich and dense, but not heavy, cherry and cream treatment.
But perhaps my most rewarding creations was the Matcha Soft service that was the best I have at all. My wife drinks what every day, so it has turned me somewhat over the years of myself. I know immediately when you use places like Starbucks, a bad powder, such as old grass scraps. By combining some appropriate festive matches with milk and lactose -free cream using this recipe, she managed to make it soft with unparalleled taste and texture. It is usually difficult to find this because most ice cream stores do not contain many options other than dairy.
conclusion
Compared to the original cream, the ninja cycle is much greater and more complex.
Sam Radford for Engadget
A homemade soft service similar to the white whale of ice cream. The machines that raised the cut sweets have been around for years, and there were even one based on the table in my old grandmother’s house. But the soft service often requires specialized equipment that is incredibly costly to own them, especially since these machines are individual purposes. The ninja has changed this with the vortex. Not only can you create delicious cooking that you can buy from the store (and the cheapest way), but it can deal with any other frozen treatment you can think of – all in one tool.
However, there are some pieces against the vortex. The first is that providing a soft service that leads to about a quarter cup of ice cream that stumbles into different components, such as the distance between the bottom of half a liter and the nozzle. This is not a big problem, but if you are trying to reduce food waste by converting food residue into candy, this is a bit unfortunate. The vortex is large and large, and at $ 350, it is nearly twice the price of the standard cream.

The biggest attraction is that the vortex is not available in a luxurious size and you can get it with its predecessor. Half a liter of ice cream is sufficient for a few people, but if you provide a soft service for the crowd, the 16 ounces vortex contains that you will have to increase the second batch. And with Mekale and whirlpool covers up to 35 dollars for the husband, these are additional expenses if you plan to use this thing to entertain. When asked, Ninja will not comment if there is a larger model on the way, but I will be shocked if a luxurious version does not appear at some point. So, if you like what a vortex can do but want a larger capacity, you may want to keep it at the moment.
The final issue is that with the launch of a vortex only two years after CREAMI, some people may feel Jupiter’s remorse. I do not see it in this way. The previous model remains a surprisingly multi -use device and does not occupy a large area of space in your kitchen. While the vortex adds a major branch but not essential of sweets to its ammunition, it also brings an additional cost and additional complexity. But for anyone who has great memories of enjoying a soft silky cone -cone on a hot summer day (perfectly, after a round of a small golf), the ninja whirlpool brings this magic to your kitchen in a way that we have not seen before.
