Trump tariff plan pushed US company to open new manufacturing plant in Indiana, lawmaker cheers

First on the fox: An Indiana legislator celebrates an American bike company that opens a new manufacturing factory in her area after President Donald Trump launched his aggressive identification campaign against China.

“The number of job opportunities available, and investment here in southern Indiana, and this is the money that remains here at home and not leaving the country. Certainly away from China,” said Hoshin in her first interview on this topic.

The Republicans in Indiana now said in her second term, that she visited the Guardian bicycles for the first time after a short period of the election of congress. At that time, they only had 16 employees.

“At that time, they spoke to us about their desire to make 100 % in the bicycle factory in the United States of America,” said Hoshin. “Currently, more than 97 % of bikes are manufactured outside the United States. Many of them are assembled in the United States, but parts of their components come mostly from China.”

She said that the Guardian bicycles were specifically relied on Chinese imports by 70 % of their production.

After Trump was elected in November 2024, she said, “They were working slowly to get 100 % in the United States.”

“They have just announced $ 19 million in financing with JPMorgan Chase to launch the first bicycle manufacturing process in the United States,” Hoshin said. “This has become possible through President Trump’s commercial policies … It is greatly incredible that we have a president now focusing a lot … to create a flat stadium for American companies.”

Hoshin said the company aims to increase its “collective market” bikes in the United States from 100,000 to more than a million.

“This is just very exciting,” she said.

Guardian Bikes currently has sites in California and Pennsylvania, with two others expected in Texas and Georgia this year, according to the company’s website.

The site also tells the company’s plans to manufacture bicycle tires in Indiana, and undertakes to be “quickly” moving towards fully made inside the United States.

“We have brought Guardian’s bike production to the United States, because we believe that the future of manufacturing is local and fast, and relies on data. Indiana, specifically Simmour, offers a perfect mix of workforce, infrastructure and proximity to our customer base,” said Brian Riley, CEO of Fox News Digital. “It is not only a bike making – it is about building a new model for American manufacturing.”

This comes at a time when critics of Trump’s comprehensive tariffs were accused of raising the global economy.

However, the supporters of the plan have praised it as a strong negotiating strategy and a solution that affects the need for the jobs that move abroad.

The cornerstone of Trump’s policy was a 10 % tariff on all imports of American plans to obtain an additional mutual tariff, which Trump announced earlier this month, against countries that did not decrease against the United States

However, Trump imposed a 145 % huge base tariff across all Beijing’s exports in an attempt to eliminate the US growing dependence on Chinese manufacturing.
