Powerball jackpot surges to $930 million after Monday drawing fails

The pot rose after no ticket matched all six numbers in Monday’s drawing.
The white balls were 8, 32, 52, 56 and 64. Arsenal were 23.
It is now worth an estimated $429 million, according to the lottery.

Monday’s drawing was the 40th drawing in the current Grand Prix. The jackpot was most recently won on September 6, when the two winning tickets, one in Missouri and one in Texas, shared a $1.787 billion prize.

Powerball drawings are held three nights a week, Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Winners will have a choice between an annual award or a lump sum. Both award options are pre-tax. If the winner chooses the annuity option, he or she will receive one immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments that increase by 5% each year, according to Powerball.
Powerball tickets sold in Missouri and Texas netted a $1.79 billion jackpot
There have already been 50 Match 5 winners in this round so far, each of whom has won $1 million. There were also eight winners of the Match 5 + Power Play, who took home $2 million. Last Saturday’s drawing alone resulted in four prizes worth at least $1 million, including $1 million worth of winning tickets sold in Florida, Georgia and Texas, as well as a $2 million winning ticket sold in New Jersey, according to the lottery.

The odds of winning any Powerball prize are still extraordinarily high. According to the lottery, the odds of winning the total prize are 1 in 24.9 while the odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million.
