President Donald Trump spoke out on Truth Social after a Border Patrol agent shot an armed man in Minneapolis on Saturday, claiming federal agents “had to protect themselves” due to a lack of support from local police in the blue city.
The 37-year-old, a US citizen from Minneapolis, allegedly approached the agents and then “resisted violently” while armed with a 9mm handgun and two magazines.
“This is the gunman’s gun, loaded (with two full extra magazines!) and ready to go – what’s all this about? Where are the local police? Why weren’t they allowed to protect ICE officers?” Trump wrote in the post. “The mayor and the governor pulled them over? It’s been said that many of these police officers were not allowed to do their jobs, and ICE had to protect themselves – which is not easy!”
The president also summoned Rep. Ilhan Omar, Democrat of Minnesota, to question her finances amid a federal fraud investigation.

“Why does Ilhan Omar have $34 million in her account? And where are the tens of billions of dollars stolen from the once-great state of Minnesota?” Trump wrote. “We’re there because of the massive cash fraud, with billions of dollars missing, and the illegal criminals who were allowed to infiltrate the country through the Democrats’ open borders policy. We want the money back, and we want it back now.
“These crooks who stole the money are going to prison, where they belong! This is no different than a major bank robbery. Much of what you are witnessing is a cover-up for this theft and fraud.”
Trump then accused Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz of “inciting insurrection with their arrogant, dangerous, arrogant rhetoric!”

“Instead, these religious political idiots should be looking for the billions of dollars stolen from the people of Minnesota and the United States of America,” he wrote. “Let the patriots in the snow do their work! 12,000 criminal illegal aliens, many of them violent, have been arrested and taken out of Minnesota. If they were still there, you would have seen something much worse than what you are witnessing today!”
Vice President J.D. Vance responded to Trump’s message on social media, claiming that during his recent visit to Minnesota, ICE agents “more than anything else” wanted to work with local law enforcement.

“When I visited Minnesota, what ICE agents wanted more than anything else was to work with local law enforcement so that conditions on the ground didn’t get out of control,” Vance wrote in the X post. “Local leadership in Minnesota has so far refused to respond to these requests.”
