First on the fox: The navy takes bold steps to cut the red strip and sharpen its focus on the battle.

A new memorandum signed by Maritime Minister John C successor is to a 35 % reduction to the Civil Public Affairs officer (PAO) and transfer all employment decisions and contract under tougher control.

Leaders say that the goal is to make strength smaller, faster and more disciplined while providing taxpayers money.

“The memo was signed with the intention of making a more deadly and graceful power, and the most capable people have placed the right positions to support the fighter,” a naval official told Fox News Digital. “It seeks to give priority to prepare to combat wars, enhance standards and discipline, as well as accelerate decision -making.”

“The Ministry of Maritime must guarantee that public affairs resources are in line with preparation, standards, discipline, and quick decisions,” says the memo.

From now on, any civil civil affairs must be approved by the chief of information in the Navy (Chinfo), or Marine Corps Communications (CD). Media contracts will also be assembled and correspondence is supported in one system so that orders through the fleet can use the same process.

The memo directed that “civil public affairs are at the headquarters, employee support, and non -operational environments are reduced or canceled.”

The changes come after a review that found that the workforce in civil public affairs has grown beyond what is required. The study indicated overlapping functions, inappropriate messages and ineffective spending.

Naval leaders say that reform will not only reduce costs, but also ensure that every communication effort supports preparedness, men and women on the front lines.

For the navy, the memo indicates that “some billions may be reorganized to public or reserve officers in active service,” which puts more consistent leaders from telling the marine story.

The Chinfo and CD guidance also requires “documenting cost saving and evaluating opportunities to re -invest in the fleet support and the ability of unified public affairs.”
