Remembering Charlie Rangel through Pergram’s personal encounters on Capitol Hill

I did not know the number “917” in New York that called me.

But there was no doubt about who called the contacts after leaving a message.

The caller was completely unambiguous.

They did not say their name.

They were not on them.

“Chad, you are the only one who missed me,” the hustle of the sound.

It was in 2012. Rangel was out of a back injury and viral infection, which made it difficult for him to stand for long periods of time.
