Republican AGs launch probe into Google, Apple over Chinese apps

Several general Republican lawyers launched an Apple and Google investigation in relation to Tiktok and Deep Seek hosting and other Chinese applications on their application stores.

Former President Joe Biden signed the Act of American Protection from the implementation of the law -controlled foreign requests in a law in April 2024.

The law has sought to ban the Tiktok application from the United States from the United States unless its mother -in -law is eliminated from the monarchy. The law also targets other applications owned by foreigners from dealing with the United States if the president decides that they are the risks of national security. The Supreme Court supported the law in January.

President Donald Trump extended the deadline for the flammation to get rid of Tijook by 75 days on his first day in office, and issued another 75 -day extension in April. Google and Apple removed TIKTOK from the application store and Google Play for a short period in January, according to federal law, but they regained them to the platforms in February after Trump released his extension.

Tennessee told AG Skrmetti Fox News Digital that their achievement is “widely rooted in Tennessee’s law” when asked if Trump’s orders were related to the investigation.

“In March, my office warned that Dibsic is a threat to the privacy of Tennessee’s data. Earlier this week, we have provided instructions for the new data privacy law in Tennessee, which enhances our commitment to ensure that consumers in Tennessee can make enlightened decisions regarding their personal data. Farming any federal law regarding Tiktok.” Skrmetti said.

Deepseek faces an investigation at home due to allegations that he is harvesting data on Americans. Its website says it stores user data on the servers in China. New York, Texas and Virginia Deepsik were banned from government agencies. Thirty -nine states were banned from government agencies.

“Tiktok-Ban” supporters claim that the social media application is nothing more than a CCP advertising tool that exposes Americans, especially, at the risk of foreign control. Parents have warned that Tiktok could produce negative consequences for mental health in children.

“Not only Chinese -owned Tiktok is a direct threat to the national security of the United States, but it is a poison for our children. Through the Chinese -owned algorithm, Tiktok promotes the content that rests self -harm, eating disorders, and other inappropriate content in rollers.

It seems that Trump, who joined Tijk during the 2024 presidential elections and carried a campaign against him, has reduced the operation of the Tijok threat in recent months.

“See, we have our phones that were made in China, we have a lot of things that were made in China … Is it important for China to spy on young people?” Trump told Fox News Sean Hanity in January.
