Republican Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds announces she will not seek re-election in 2026

Iowa Republican Governor Kim Reynolds will not seek to be re -elected in 2026 after nearly 10 years at work at the highest position in the state, which led to the launch of what may be the preliminary elections of the Republic of Competitiveness in 2026.

In a video announcement released on Friday, Reynolds thanked her for her support throughout her political career and said she will not carry a campaign for another time as a ruler to focus on her family.

She said: “Today, I would like to share with you a personal decision; a decision that was not made lightly, but it comes with a complete heart and a deep feeling of gratitude.

Reynolds began her political career in the office of the treasurer in Clark Province, before winning the elections as a Csanur in the state and then as a state ruler.

“This was not an easy decision, because I love this situation and I love your service,” Reynolds said in a video posted on social media. “But when my state ends, I had the honor to work as a ruler for you for about 10 years.”

Reynolds said that the work has not yet ended, and he is committed to “hard work for you every day until my state ends,” referring to her time as a ruler in the name of “the greatest honor in my life.”
