RLWRLD raises $14.8M to build a foundational model for robotics

As Robotics advanced, the industry steadily adopted more robots to automate many types of intense business. More than 540,000 new artificial robots were installed all over the world in 2023, with total active industrial robots to more than 4 million, for all financial reports standards.
Industrial robots usually excel in frequent tasks, but they find it difficult to perform accurate tasks, deal with sensitive materials, and adapt to changing conditions – a robot in the restaurant kitchen will object more than it is useful, for example. This is why many industrial processes are still manually.
South Korea RLWRLD aims to solve this problem through the constituting model of Amnesty International, which is specially designed for robots by combining large language models with traditional robots programs. The company says this model will enable robots to make quick and graceful movements and perform a degree of “logical thinking” as well.
“Using the RLWRD basis model, operations that require a lot of manual work can be completely automatically through learning and copying human experience, and making work environments more efficient,” Jung-Hee Ryu, founder of RLWRLD, said in an exclusive interview with Techcrunch.
The start starting from the ghost is now 21 billion KRW (about $ 14.8 million) in the financing of seeds. The tour was led by the investment capital company, as invested Mirae Asset Venture Investment and Global Brain.
It is worth noting that RLWRLD attracted a long list of big strategic investors – Ana Group, Pksha, Mitsui Chemical, Shimadzu and KDDI from Japan; LG Electronics and SK Telecom from Korea; And manufacture amber from India.
RLWRLD said seed financing will be used to finance the concept proof with its strategic investors,; Providing computing infrastructure such as graphics processing units, and the purchase of robots and devices to collect wide data; And employ the best research talents. Rio said that the startup company will also use the new funds to develop advanced hand movements that include five tools-the ability that its competitors have not shown such as Tesla, Figure AI and 1x.
Rio said that RLWRLD also works with its strategic investors to explore ways to automate the various workflows that focus on man using the artificial intelligence model. Rio said they are preparing a human work demonstration based on a human being based on a human being, to be held later this year. In addition, the company is working to develop a platform that can support different types of robots, including industrial, cooperative and independent robots.
Founded in 2024, RLWRLD is the third Ryu. Intel acquired its second start, OlaWorks, in 2012, and eventually became the Intel Korea R&D center within the computer vision section. In 2015, he established a speed to start operating, Future Play, focusing on deep technology companies.
When asked about what he inspired to start a new company again, Rio said that he noticed how quickly the number of startups in the United States in the United States, Europe and China increased, while similar startups in Korea and Japan were relatively absent.
He spoke with more than 30 artificial intelligence professors from Korea and Japan about their challenges – everything from the lack of infrastructure such as data and graphics processing units, and obstacles that discourage them from launching a project – and available opportunities.
He said: “I decided that it would be strategically useful to determine the priorities of the RFM models on the technically saturated field of LLMS, and take advantage of the prominent global strengths in Korea and Japan in manufacturing.”
Soon after that, six professors from the highest -class institutions brought in South Korea, including Kaist, SNU and postech, along with their search teams, to launch RLWRLD.
RLWRLD is not alone in dealing with this problem. Emerging companies such as Skild AI and physical intelligence build basic models similar to robots, as well as large companies such as Tesla, Google DeepMind and NVIDIA.
But Ryu believes that startup has a good start, as it already contains artificial intelligence experts and robots that he needs to develop basic models of robots, as well as human robots with a high degree of freedom (DOF).
“In addition, [such companies] It usually depends on low -robots, such as two lashes. RLWRLD has already got a high -reference reference robot, and thus expects superior performance results.
Rio also said that thanks to its strategic investors, RLWRLD can collect valuable data from the manufacturing sites located nearby. In 2024, a report indicated that Japan and South Korea combined 9.2 % of manufacturing production worldwide.
RLWRLD aims to generate revenues early this year through concept proving projects (POC) and demonstrations of cooperation with strategic partners.
The long -term start -up goal is to meet the needs of factories, logistics centers and retail stores, and even robots that can be used in local environments to help with homework. Meanwhile, the priority is to target industries because they are ready to pay more than that and have a strong demand for automation.
The young woman has 13 employees.
