Rubio responds to shooting of Colombian presidential candidate Miguel Uribe

Foreign Minister Marco Rubio and other politicians from the United States and Latin America condemned the shooting of the Colombian presidential candidate Miguel Urby on Sunday.
Rubio blamed the assassination attempt for the “violent leftist discourse” arising from the Colombian government. Orepe, a Colombian Senate member, is currently fighting for his life after obtaining three fiery wounds, one of which is in his head.
“The United States condemns the strongest conditions possible attempt to assassinate senator Miguel Urby. This is a direct threat to democracy and the result of the left leftist discourse coming from the highest levels of the Colombian government,” Rubio wrote.
He added: “After I saw Colombia’s progress directly over the past few decades to unify security and democracy, it cannot return to the dark days of political violence.

The Senator in Ohio Bernino also condemned the attack in a social media statement.
Moreno wrote: “The assassination attempt to lead the presidential candidate Miguel Orbi is a bracket attack on democracy. This evil act must be investigated and any responsible person must, directly or indirectly, must face a quick punishment.”
Chilean President Gabriel Borik’s reaction was also to shoot Uary.
“My strongest condemnation of the attack against Miguel Urby Torbe, a pre -secrecy candidate in Colombia. In democracy, there is no place or justification,” Burik wrote.

The authorities say that Urby shot a 15 -year -old successful man, and they were investigating who was behind the attack.
“Miguel is fighting for his life at this moment. Let’s ask God to direct the hands of the doctors who bring him,” wrote Maria Claudia Tarazona, Miguel’s wife, at the expense of her husband X. “I ask everyone to join together in a series of prayer for Miguel’s life.”
Colombian President Gustavo Petro, the chief opponent of Urby in the presidential race, said the attack was via the “red line” and the investigation commanded. He also canceled a planned trip to France this week, pointing to “the seriousness of events.”

The Ministry of Defense of Colombia has provided a reward for approximately $ 750,000 for information related to the assassination attempt.
