That’s going to be the conflict

WWE Superstar Guenther recently spoke about his upcoming match against John Cena on Saturday night’s main event. The 17-time world champion will hang up his wrestling shoes after December 13.

John Cena is one of the greatest names to ever enter the squared circle. The GOAT promised fans he would retire after one final in-ring outing on Saturday Night’s Main Event. He has also repeatedly confirmed that he will be hanging up his signature moves and will only appear in suits for his future appearances in WWE.

During a recent interview on ESPN Take firstGunther was asked how he and the other wrestlers view John Cena as their co-worker. The Ring General said he didn’t have many interactions with Cena backstage, but he shared what he thought of The Chain Gang Soldier when he saw him on TV 20 years ago. The former World Heavyweight Champion revealed that he hates Cena’s jerks because he believes they don’t belong in wrestling.

Gunther also praised the 17-time world champion as the greatest sports artist of all time, but he believes he is the greatest professional wrestler right now, and that will be the feud going into their match at SNME.

“I can only speak for myself. I didn’t really — I shook his hand twice. I didn’t have any other interaction with him other than that. I just remember when I started wrestling, 20 years ago now, I remember hating that guy on TV week after week, and I always thought he didn’t belong in the ring. I’m very hard-headed and traditional… John Cena is definitely the greatest sports artist of all time, but I’m the greatest professional wrestler now. That’s going to be the struggle.”

WWE superstar Gunther wasn’t the fan-favorite final opponent for John Cena

Gunther defeated several names, including L.A. Knight, for The Last Time Is Now Championship to earn the opportunity to face John Cena in his final match on Saturday Night’s Main Event.

There are mixed opinions about The Ring General being the man to retire Cena, with many wanting to see The GOAT wrestle someone from his past in his final in-ring outing. One name that has been heavily rumored is Edge (Adam Copeland). However, this does not seem possible as Copeland is currently under contract with WWE’s rival promotion, AEW.

Many people still believe that the Triple H-led creative team may have some surprises up their sleeve in Cena’s final match. It will be interesting to see what WWE has planned for December 13th.
