‘Schools are useless’: Helpless parent’s heartbreaking post on 8th std kid studying till midnight strikes a chord

A Pune-based Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) recently took to social media to highlight the excessive pressure of homework and projects on young school students. He wrote that his son would not be allowed to participate in his physical education period if he did not do the project work.

The CFA, identified as Niteen S Dharmawat, even claimed that his son stays awake till 12:00pm-12:30am every day, adding that he feels helpless before the system.

In a video shared with his post, Dharmawat said: “There are a lot of things that kids do, and this is just an example. Since the evening, he has been doing some homework or other. There is a lot of pressure. Why are we doing this?” He added that if his child does not get enough sleep due to project work.

“Schools are useless. This is 12 midnight. The 8th child is still doing some nonsense projects after finishing his homework. The horror is that if he doesn’t do it, he will not be allowed to participate in his favorite physical education period. Every day he is up until 12-1230. As a parent, I feel so helpless from this corrupt system. Whatever I was against, I have to face from my child now,” he said in his post.

The post went viral on the social media platform in a short time, with users agreeing with the CFA’s opinion. They believed that these projects were meaningless and served no purpose in real life.

“Homework should be illegal worldwide,” one user said.

Another user wrote: “We couldn’t agree more… most of these projects are not only a waste of time, but also a waste of precious resources like paper! It would be so much better if the kids got right on some basic life skills right then and there instead.”

A third user commented: “Indian school education is the worst in the whole world. There are no innovations, just useless hard work.”
