SCOOP: Mayra Flores to run for Congress again, challenging House Democrat Henry Cuellar

First on the fox: The first member of the Congress in Mexico launches its return on Tuesday, and put its attention on a democratic that the Republicans are seen as one of the most weak positions in 2026.
“Unfortunately, we do not have many voices in Spanish-speaking society-in Telemundo, on television-we are talking to Spanish-speaking community about the amazing work of President Trump, and his management,” said former MP Meera Flores, R-Texas, told Fox News Digital in an interview before announcing it.
“This is something I feel obligated to do, because there is a lot of wrong information that spreads from the left, and they are trying to instill fear and hatred in society of Spanish origin.”
Flores served in Congress for about six months, from late June 2022 to early January 2023, after the Congress area turned 34 from Texas from Blue to Red after winning special elections to replace a previous ritual. FileMon Vela Jr. , D-toxas.

She lost his re-election to Representative Vicente Gonzalez, D-TEXAS, twice, although her return match comes in less than 3 % of Gonzalez’s victory.
However, the Flores 2026 show aims to a different democratic challenge. She told the former Fox News Digital legislator that it intends to run in the twenty-eighth Congress region in Texas, which is currently represented by Representative Henry Cowler, D-Texas.
Cuellar is a well -known moderate separated from his party on issues such as border security, crime and abortion.
He has served in Congress since 2005, with victories that extend from a few thousand votes to margins of up to 30 %.
The Republican weighs for a long time weighing the display of the Senate in the main battlefield
Cuelalar recently won less than 6 % – or nearly 13,000 votes – amid federal indictment accusing him of a set of corruption charges.
“It is not a matter of Mayra Flores. This is what this country needs. This country needs me to run in Texas 28 and win this seat,” said Flores. “This is a seat that can be turned in 2026. We now need a much larger majority. It makes it very difficult for President Trump to get anything with a small majority.”
Flores said she was deeply familiar with the region and had family relations with her.

In addition to being an applicable opportunity for the Republican Party, she referred to the criminal indictment as an argument for Cuelalar, and indicated that he was in office since she was one year old, and she served for the first time in the home of Texas in 1986.
“At the end of the day, I do not care about the party it is, whether you are Republican or democratic,” Flores said. “Being a member, it is … a position by which you can help many people, and you are able to represent an entire area. However, he threw everything away. It is not worth any amount of money for your country.”
Cuellar denied that any violations by his wife were in a statement when the indictment was announced.
“I want to be clear that both my wife and my wife are innocent of these allegations. All I did in Congress was to serve the people of South Texas.”
“Before I took any action, I requested a proactive legal advice from the parliament’s Ethics Committee, which gave me more than one written opinion, along with an additional opinion from a national law firm,” he said. “The measures I took in Congress were consistent with the actions of many of my colleagues and in the interest of the American people. Moreover, we requested a meeting with the public prosecutors in Washington, DC to explain the facts, and they refused to discuss the case with us or hear our side.”

“At the end of the day, as you know, money is important. Without money, you cannot get a shelter, you cannot get a car, and you cannot save your children. So the economy is a top priority for me,” Flores said. “Of course, agriculture is a passion for me. I was farmer workers. My parents were migrant workers. We have traveled a lot. I think our agricultural workers needed to give priority.”
She compared her to push her to cultivate the Republican position on energy independence in the United States.
“We are talking about being independent, correct, on oil and gas, which I agree with, 100 %. But we need to be independent of food as well,” said Flores.
