Senator Blackburn introduces bill to ban birth tourism, end citizenship loophole

senator Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn. New legislation on Tuesday aims to dismantle the tourism industry millions of dollars that allow foreign citizens to use the immigration system in America to secure the automatic citizenship of their children.

The Tourism law, which was presented in the US Senate, would amend the immigration and nationality law to announce any foreign citizen looking for a tourist visa for the basic purpose of birth in the United States.

These births automatically arouses the nationality of the United States for the child, and it is a long loophole that opens the door to the migration sponsored by the family in the future.

Blackburn’s bill, which has been read twice and refers to the committee, includes a ruling to protect the legal medical travelers. If the main cause of entry is a medical treatment instead of acquiring citizenship, these cases will not be blocked.

Blackburn said in a press statement: “For a very long time, foreign citizens took advantage of immigration laws in our nation, benefiting from the system to come to the United States only to give birth and obtain citizenship for their children,” Blackburn said in a press statement.

“The Tourism Law in the ban would prevent foreign citizens, including opponents such as Communist China and Russia, would prevent American citizenship for their children. President Trump is working to end the newborn citizenship, we need to obtain this law to his office.”

The batch comes at a time when the Trump administration intensifies its focus on restoring the safety of immigration in the second president’s state. During his first term, President Trump has repeatedly pledged to end the automatic citizenship of immigrant children and illegal tourists.

In 2020, under his administration, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs began rejecting visas from suspects in birth, a step praised by advocates of enforcement of immigration.

Tourism is far from a marginal phenomenon. According to conservative immigration policy analysts, the industry represents at least 33,000 births annually for women on temporary visas. When they reach the age of 21, these children can drag their parents legally for green cards, and to present the rear door to the American immigration system.

A report issued by the 2015 Immigration Center estimated that the practice generates millions of dollars to companies specialized in bringing pregnant foreigners, especially from Russia and China, to the United States, often these companies.

In one of the largest federal repression so far, the Ministry of Justice in the previous Trump administration in 2019 accused nearly 20 individuals in southern California to operate large -scale tourism networks targeting Chinese citizens.

Prosecutors accused companies of training customers to lie to immigration officials about the purpose of their travel, which is a common tactic between these operations.

Blackburn’s bill will codish the law of any traveler seeking to exploit this gap, which ensures that the citizenship born as a ticket to play the system is not used.
