Trump and Melania host Halloween celebration on White House South Lawn

president Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump got into the Halloween spirit Thursday at the White House.

The return of the annual Halloween celebration was held on the South Lawn, with thousands of trick-or-treaters of all ages participating.

According to a White House press release, children and their parents are invited to enjoy various trick-or-treat booths and fall decorations at South Portico. This included fallen leaves and a variety of lanterns.

As part of the event, the President and First Lady distributed commemorative candy on South Road.

The U.S. Air Force Strolling Strings Band played traditional Halloween songs and “modern tunes” while distributing candy, the release said.

A postcard station bearing the phrase “Be Best,” the first lady’s signature campaign slogan, was facilitated by the U.S. Postal Service, which also provided toy mail trucks.

The USDA provided a “giant pumpkin” photo opportunity and distributed miniature pumpkins to American farmers.

Confectionery was provided by the National Confectioners Association, while the International Fresh Produce Association supplied apples for Washington State and New York.

The event also featured participation and performances by America 250, NASA, the National Park Service, the U.S. Mint, the U.S. Secret Service, the White House Historical Association, and the Center for Science and Industry, according to the White House.

The First Lady’s office posted a photo of the spooky White House decorations on X, writing: “The White House is getting ready for Halloween.”

The account also posted flashbacks with some photos of Halloween moments during Trump’s first term.
