Dricus du Plessis’ coach issues an update on the former UFC champion’s return to action

Trainer Morne Visser does not want his star protégé Dricus du Plessis to return to the cage following his title defeat to Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 319 in August. The veteran coach explained that Du Plessis needs to work on his wrestling and will be ready to return early next year.

In an interview with Submission Radio, Visser shared an update on du Plessis’ potential return and said:

“So, obviously he’ll take a week off, maybe two weeks max. That gives us, let’s call it the end of August. Then I need 12 to 16 weeks, which is three to four months, to solve this problem.” [wrestling skill gap] outside. I don’t need fitness, I don’t need strength, I don’t need conditioning, I don’t need to fix his standing, I just need to fix this problem, and it’s a solvable problem. I need about 12 to 16 weeks to fix the problem and then go back to camp right away, which is a 12-week fight camp. So, we will be back early next year.”
