South Korea foreign minister heads to US after Hyundai raid in Georgia

South Korea Foreign Minister left to the United States on Monday after the mass immigration raid by US government officials at the Hyundai-LG batteries in Georgia last week when about 300 South Koreans were arrested.

During his conversation with the correspondents before his trip to the United States, South Korean Foreign Minister Zhou Hyun described it as a “dangerous situation” and said he was in contact with Washington after the US immigration authorities arrested 475 individuals from the factory near Savanna, while Federal officials called it a “bigger” raid.

Details of the immigration violations are still unclear, but on Monday, South Korea officials suggested that workers have exceeded a 90 -day visa exemption, which violated their temporary visa conditions.

According to a Reuters report, Finance Minister Ko Yun Chaliol said he realizes that some experts may have traveled to the United States to help conduct an electric car factory test that was scheduled to start production in October before obtaining appropriate documents.

“You need to obtain a visa for a test, but it is very difficult to obtain an official visa. It was time to run out, and I think experts went to the United States,” he said.

President Donald Trump seemed to deal with the situation in fact on Sunday evening when he said: “In the wake of the enforcement of immigration in the Hyundai batteries factory in Georgia, I invite all foreign companies investing in the United States to satisfy the respect of immigration laws in our nation.”

“Your investments are welcome, and we encourage you to bring very smart people, with great artistic talent, to build global products, and we will make it possible to do it quickly and legally to do so.” “What we ask in return is to employ and train American workers.”

The raid came just ten days after South Korean President Lee Jay Meong met with Trump in Washington and pledged to increase trade relations.

The last raid pushed questions about how it affects the US future agreements with one of its leading allies in East Asia.

The White House did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital questions about whether the United States has plans to make visa programs more efficient in the wake of the president’s comments.
