State Department gears up to increase social media screening for student visas

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs plans to enhance its efforts to examine social media for those who are applying for visas for international students and their exchange to ensure that the US security threat to the United States is not formed.

To do this, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs suspends visa interviews for students and exchanging students temporarily as it evaluates social media offers reinforced for the application to submit the application.

This effort is the latest initiative from the Trump administration to establish immigration and cancel the visas of those who attended academic institutions in the United States of those who publicly supported Palestine faced the increase in scrutiny, and Foreign Minister Marco Rubio said in May that the administration was declining visa status for students who participated in the supporters.

The Trump administration accused the students who participated in these protests of Hamas’s support – a dedicated foreign terrorist organization.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is currently examining the current operations that are included in the examination and exchange of students’ applications, and “based on this review, it plans to issue instructions on examining the expanded social media of all these applicants,” according to an email on Tuesday that Fox News Digital obtained.

As a result, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs guides the consular departments to stop the addition of any additional student or the ability to distribute a visitor visa until more directive is issued, “in preparation for the expansion of the required social media examination,” said the email.

The email said: “The next step is that the publications are to evaluate operations and operations in preparation for this expanded scrutiny on social media for all students and the stock exchange (F, M, J).”

“The scheduled dates can be followed by current guidelines,” the email said. “However, the available dates should be removed, but they are not taken as of the release of this cable, immediately from the availability.”

Email does not specify the additional steps that will participate in the most striking social media examination process, but it says that the consular offices have been directed to refer some applicants in the student visitors visa and exchange them to the fraud prevention unit in order to “a mandatory examination of social media.”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not immediately responded to a request for suspension from Fox News Digital on what is the current social media policy for applicants.

Meanwhile, Rubio told legislators on May 20 that he expected that the Foreign Ministry has already withdrew thousands of visas since January after President Donald Trump was inaugurated. This is from 300, and the administration was canceled in late March.

Rubio also said that his agency will continue to withdraw student visas, saying that the visa is not correct, it is a “privilege.”

“I don’t know the last number, but we may have more to do it,” Rubio said to the legislators of the Senate Accreditation Committee, which oversees foreign affairs. “We will continue to cancel the visas of the people here as guests and give our higher education facilities.”

Meanwhile, the Democrats said that the Trump administration’s efforts to cancel visas are a violation of due legal procedures.

“I think it is a basic attack on freedom, because legal procedures are the guardian of the gate to prevent the government from removing people’s lives or freedom of people, and freedom is what happens when a visa takes off without legal procedures,” Senator Jeff Jeff Merkeley told Rubio on May 20.

The student’s visa allows those outside the United States to study in the country for a specific period of time at an academic institution. On the other hand, the green card already allows the individual in the United States and not the American citizen to stay in the country.
