Stefon Diggs addresses alleged strangulation accusations from former private chef

The NFL star chipped in exclusively with reporters inside the New England Patriots locker room on Friday, January 2. He started things off by apologizing for being MIA the past few days. He admitted it was a difficult time and said he couldn’t go into much detail about the case. “It was a very emotional time…it was brought back by some of the things that were going on. “It’s definitely an open case, so he can’t say anything about it.”

When it comes to football, Stefon Diggs said he plans to keep working and finish the season strong. “As far as football is concerned, I will continue to be the guy I was. Trying to finish the season strong.” In more footage shared by CBS News from his interview, Diggs added that he was leaning on his family and team during this time.

“We’re all dealing with life stuff, family stuff, and it’s hard to be a football team,” Diggs continued. “You stick together, you lean on your brothers, you lean on the people you spend the most time with.”

News about Stefon Diggs’ charges dropped at the end of 2025. On December 16, his former personal chef filed a police report, accusing Diggs of assaulting her and trying to strangle her. According to TMZ, she said Diggs barged into her bedroom on December 2, got angry during a conversation, and slapped her. She said the argument escalated after a text message about money she claimed he owed her. When she tried to push him away, she said he grabbed her neck and tightened his grip. She added that she was struggling to breathe and feared she would lose consciousness.

She told police she did not take any photos of her alleged injuries but that her upper chest area was red. She said at the time of the accident that she had not received her monthly salary. She started working with Diggs in July, and the gig is scheduled to continue through the 2025 NFL season. They initially agreed to weekly pay, but later reportedly converted it to a monthly schedule.

Lawyers for Stefon and the New England Patriots respond to the allegations

After the accusations against Stefon Diggs surfaced, his lawyer David Mayer emailed the Associated Press, saying the football player “categorically denies these allegations.” Additionally, Mayer described the allegations as unsubstantiated and unconfirmed.

“The timing and motive for making these allegations is quite clear: they are the direct result of a financial dispute between the employee and the employer that has not been resolved to the employee’s satisfaction,” attorney Mayer wrote.

The New England Patriots also spoke out, saying they stand by Diggs while adding that they plan to fully cooperate with authorities and the NFL.
