Tariffs Will Make Electronics More Expensive. If You Need a New Gadget, ‘Buy It Now’

WIRED has reached more than 70 companies, from electronics manufacturers to coffee companies, asking whether they can share any details about potential price increases on imported products. The vast majority, such as Garmin, Oura, Amazon, Logitech, OnePlus and Stelcase, rejected the comment, while others said it was too early to discuss prices. However, some companies responded.

Branf, the famous brand of furniture in home offices, says she is preparing for changes in commercial policy for some time, as she finds efficiency in her supply chain to accommodate the impact of definitions with minimal price increases. The company says that there is a lot of uncertainty: “Frankly, we may need to control some prices in the coming months, especially for the products obtained from countries where tariff rates were much higher than what we expected.” A branch says if there is a change in the price, it will be the protection of the margins instead of expanding it. It should be noted that the comfortable Branch chair, which it has long recommended in the WIRED Best Office Manual, was $ 339 but now $ 359, although the branch says the price has been modified before announcing the customs tariff.

MacCamaster, a coffee industry, says it may absorb “some short -term stresses at the American level”, although it is very early to confirm whether the prices will increase or not. The percentage of Portland’s coffee maker, she maintains prices until April, but “this customs tariff will lead to an unambiguously high retail prices-which is much higher. We are a small company that was already struggling with increased costs.”

Supernote, a company that manufactures digital laptops, indicated a statement made on Reddit. It carries out an increase in prices in the United States by the end of April: “We are actively modifying our supply chain to mitigate the long -term effect of these definitions,” says the company in Reddit. “These adjustments take time, especially with new tariffs that hit everything from people to penguins, which makes the situation more complicated. It will be a difficult time.”

The company behind smart bird nutrients from brands such as Harymor and Sehmua says it is exploring strategies to accommodate costs internally, with no price adjustments – “We are facing increasing expenses that directly affect our profit margins. … We realize the competitive nature of the market and the price sensitivity of our customers,” says the company behind smart bird nutrients from brands such as Harymor and Sehmua.

Meanwhile, Samsung did not respond to our request to comment yet, but the company told Reuters that the definitions do not affect its TV devices as much as most of them are produced in Mexico.

We will continue to add information from brands when receiving it. Although it is too early to make a final statement about a constantly advanced situation, it is possible that we will expect higher prices in almost everything if the tariff situation has not changed. The last thing we want is for everyone to buy panic, but if you need a new phone, mechanical keyboard or air purification device, you are likely to start searching now.

The update was on April 8: We have added new information about the latest tariff China and how Razer seems to have stopped sales of the United States for laptops.
