The Download: cybersecurity’s shaky alert system, and mobile IVF

This is today’s edition of the downloadandOur newsletter on weeks that provide a daily dose of what is happening in the world of technology.
The global warning system in cybersecurity collapses
Every day, billions of people trust digital systems to run everything from communicating to trade to critical infrastructure. But the global early warning system that alerts safety teams to the defects of dangerous software exposes important gaps in coverage – and most users are likely that their digital lives have become more at risk.
Over the past eighteen months, global cybersecurity columns have been rocked by financing problems: the US-backed national weakness database (NVD)-it is linked to the global level for its free analysis of security threats-the weaknesses and vulnerability program (CVE), the numbering system to track the imagination of software programs.
Although the situation for both of them has settled, organizations and governments face a decisive weakness in our digital infrastructure: the basic global cyber security services depend on a complex network of US agency’s interests and government financing that can be cut or redirect at any time. The first children were born after “simple” artificial insemination in a mobile laboratory
This week I sent a congratulations to two groups of new parents in South Africa. Children Milayah and Rossouw arrived a few weeks ago. All children are special, but these two people have put a new precedent. They are the first to be born after “simplified” IVF was executed in a mobile laboratory.
This new mobile phone laboratory is mainly covered by everything that the embryos world needs to perform artificial insemination on a shoe. It is designed to provide reproductive treatments for people who live in rural parts of low -income countries, where artificial insemination can be expensive or even not present. And the best of all: it seems to be working! Read our story about the reason for its exciting development.
