The Download: How fertility tech is changing families, and Trump’s latest tariffs

This week we welcomed a record child in the world. Thadius Daniel Pierce, who arrived at the end of the week, developed a fetus who was frozen in storage for 30 and a half years. You can call it the oldest child in the world.

His parents, Lindsay and Tim Peres, were only young children when this fetus was created, along the way in 1994. Linda Archer, who donated the fetus, described the experiment as “surreal”.

Such stories also highlight how reproductive techniques form families. But while the child Thadius is a standard fracture, many other children have been born from the frozen fetuses for great talismans. Read the full story.
