The Shingles Vaccine Could Be a Secret Weapon Against Heart Attacks

In South Korea, health care is largely covered through a single defender system funded by the public sector. This system means that scientists can easily study the health of South Korea residents using unlimited (unknown) data. The researchers, through various sources of data, followed the condition of logic and cardiovascular health vaccination of the South Korean residents between the ages of 50 years and over, starting in 2012, when the vaccine became available for the first time in the country.

They eventually found that the logic of logical impetigo was 23 % less associated with any new cardiovascular condition, along with 26 % lower risk than the main cardiovascular events (heart attacks and strokes) and 26 % of the risk of heart failure. The decrease related to cardiovascular disease was stronger in two or three years after vaccination, but it is still possible to see it after eight years. The protection from vaccination also appears to be stronger in men, people who are previously healthy, and people who live in rural or low -income neighborhoods.

“Since our study was conducted in a large number of population, these results may be widely applicable,” he told me.

These types of studies are observation, which means that they cannot permanently prove the existence of a causal link between two factors, only a relationship appears (in this case, between the vaccination of logical images and reduce heart disease). But the authors notice that logical images can cause inflammation, clots, and general blood vessels – all known risk factors for cardiovascular disease. They also speculate that the damage of the nerves caused by the shogy impetigo may disturb our heart rhythm, which can lead to problems such as heart attack.

Another consideration is that researchers only studied the potential effects of the old logic vaccine, Zostavax, which uses a weak version of the virus to generate immunity. This vaccine has been largely replaced by a different type of shingrix, which uses only a virus protein. This newest vaccine is more effective in preventing shingles, and some research has suggested that it may provide greater protection than dementia as well.

She tells me that her team is planning now to study whether the Schengex can provide the same level of protection from cardiovascular disease such as the oldest vaccine – or better.

All that has been said, the shingles can be very unpleasant, so the evaluation against it is really worth it. If we are lucky, the vaccine may also promote our brain health and heart as well.
