Thousands of Afghans could be deported when protected status ends

The Trump administration ends the protected situation of thousands of Afghans who entered the United States after its chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021 under the administration of Biden.

The US Department of Internal Security does not plan to renew the temporary protected situation of Vigan (TPS), which lasts from six to 18 months and is applied to people from the war -torn countries or has a natural disaster or any other event that makes the return dangerous.

The US military evacuated more than 82,000 Afghans from the country when the United States withdrew in 2021, and the Taliban took over.

“We will create our own laws,” says Taliban leader.

Sean Vandrifer, who served in the army and president #AFGHANEVAC, did not agree to the administration’s evaluation of Afghanistan.
