Americans are lowering wage expectations for new jobs: NY Fed

American workers reduce their expectations from the wage rate who want to do a new job, according to research conducted by the Federal Reserve in New York.

The Federal Reserve Federal Reserve Survey in New York found that the alleged reservation fee for a new mission decreased to $ 74236 in March from $ 82135 in November, the highest level in the data chain. The report found that low wages were driven by men and workers over 45 years old.

With the decrease in last month, the reservation fee fell near the level that was in November 2023, when it was $ 73391.

A study of the Federal Reserve in New York found that 14.9 % of the respondents see the possibility of obtaining at least one job offer over the next four months, which decreased from 16.2 % in November.

The perception of the loss of individual jobs in the next 12 months increased by 1.6 percentage points to 15.7 %, which is the highest level since March 2024. This increase was greater for respondents with the annual family income less than $ 50,000.

Participants were less likely to report that they had to work in their old years. Only 47.3 % of the respondents in March said they expect to work after the age of 62, while 31.6 % said they believed that they will work after the age of 67. These are both from November, when the numbers were 50.6 % and 34 %, respectively.
