Time is running out for taxpayers to claim $1B in refunds from 2021

The IRS (IRS) has announced this week that more than a million taxpayers are running out of time to submit their tax declarations and obtain the non -claimed tax recovered amounts from 2021.

The Tax Authority said in a statement on Tuesday that more than 1.1 million taxpayers have tax revenues that are not required for the tax year 2021 and they face a final date waving on April 15 to submit their tax decisions. The Tax Authority estimated that more than a billion dollars of tax recovered amounts are still not required by the taxpayers who did not submit their federal tax approval, known as the 1040 model, for the tax year 2021.

The Tax Authority analyzed the non -claimed recovered amounts and estimated that the average money recovery for 2021 is $ 781, which means that half of the recovered amounts are greater than $ 781 and a half less. The estimation does not include the credit of the recovery discount or other credits that may apply to a specific tax approval.

The taxpayers are usually three years to submit the tax declaration and demand the recovery of taxes under the law, and if they fail to fulfill this deadline within three years, the recovery of the money is not required to belong to the US Treasury Department.

“By losing the provision of the tax declaration, people will lose more than just recovering the detained or paid taxes during the year 2021,” the Tax Authority wrote.

The agency added: “Many workers with low and medium income may be qualified to obtain acquired income tax credit (EITC). In 2021, EITC was $ 6728 for taxpayers with qualified children,” the agency added.

EITC contains different thresholds of gradual disposal depending on income and family size. IRS Slaves for 2021 were $ 51,464 for taxpayers with three or more children. $ 47,915 for flaws with two qualified children; $ 42,158 for those who have one qualified child; And 21,430 dollars for employees without qualified children.

In addition, the Tax Authority noticed in its announcement that the taxpayers who seek a tax recovery 2021 may have the recovered amounts if they did not make tax decisions for 2022 and 2023.

The collection of tax documents from the previous year to provide a late return can be difficult, although the Tax Authority indicates that there are ways they can get the information they need for the past tax years, such as 2021.

The individual account on the Internet for the IRS taxpayers can help access to previous tax decisions, tax account information, wage data, income and verify non -discrimination messages.

The agency notes that the taxpayers who lack the M-2, 1098, 1099, or 5498 taxpayers can request copies of the employer, bank, or others’ motives. Taxers who cannot get these missing models and cannot access the individual website account on the Internet to obtain a tax approval or a tax account send them to them using a Get By Mail version or contact the automated phone version service.

Another option is for taxpayers to submit a 4506-T form to request a copy of wages and income-although these requests may take several weeks and recommend the Tax Prosecutors Authority to try other options first.

Taxers who are looking to provide taxes from the previous year such as 2021 can reach the appropriate version of the 1040 form of any year they need a page and the tax authority’s locations on models and sites of the Tax Authority or by contacting the agency’s free line of 800-Tase (800-829-3676).
