Tina Knowles Says White Couple Cut Her In Line In ‘Racially Charged’ Incident

According to the fashion designer, one employee allowed a white couple to stand in front of her in line on the red carpet, even after she confronted the employee about the situation.
This revelation comes shortly after Tina Knowles received the Philanthropy Award for her work in raising awareness and contributing to cancer research.

The fashion designer recalled how she was treated unfairly at the Kentucky Derby
Tina knowles spoke out about her unfair treatment during a previous visit to the kentucky derby, according to Daily Mail.
Speaking about the incident during an appearance on Peacock’s High Horse: The Black Cowboy, the fashion designer noted that at the event, a female employee allowed a white couple to stand in front of her in line on the red carpet.
She claimed someone had come when she stood up and announced: “Oh, Tina Knowles is next.”
But then the employee suddenly appeared on the scene and interrupted, saying: “Oh no, because we need to-,” before running straight into Knowles’ face.
At this point in her novel, Knowles reveals that she herself added “a white person?” As if she was completing the employee’s unfinished idea of hers.

She also noted that the employee did not respond and instead stood behind her to meet the couple and guide them to the red carpet.

Tina Knowles says ‘racially charged’ incident was ‘a very big wake-up call’

For Knowles, being in a situation like that upset her deeply, but it also opened her eyes to what she believes derby culture is really like.
“It was a pretty big wake-up call for me to attend the Kentucky Derby and see this closed culture,” Knowles said of the incident.
Doubling down on her stance, Knowles called out the event for being racially charged.
“It’s racially charged there,” she added. “There is a lot of racially charged energy.”
Knowles has attended the Kentucky Derby at least twice, including an appearance in May 2018.
However, it is unclear whether the 2018 event occurred when the incident occurred, as Knowles did not reveal those details during the interview.

Tina Knowles has previously spoken about her health struggles

Earlier this year, Knowles told Gayle King about her breast cancer diagnosis during an episode of “CBS Mornings.”
She revealed that her doctors found two tumors during her mammogram appointment, and this discovery shocked her.
“I always tried to take care of myself,” the 71-year-old recalls. “I was in disbelief.”
Of the two tumors, one was benign, while the other was diagnosed as stage 1 cancer.
Knowles then had no choice but to undergo a lumpectomy to remove the tumor in her left breast.

Beyoncé and her sister Solange offered support to their mother ahead of her surgery

Before her surgery, her daughters Beyoncé and Solange, along with many close friends, provided her with tremendous support.
“I was nervous, so they started joking with me,” Knowles recalls.
“I start laughing,” she continued. “I got out of my head…and then I said, ‘I’m so happy to have you all here.'”
“And I thought about ‘Walk With Me,’ which they used to sing all the time,” Knowles added.
Tina Knowles was honored for raising awareness of cancer research

In October, Knowles received the Philanthropy Award at the 27th Annual Angel Ball hosted by Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation.
The star-studded event raised $3 million for cancer research and individuals were honored for their various contributions to the cause.
In Knowles’ case, she was honored for her work in raising awareness and her long-standing dedication to philanthropy.
After the event, the septuagenarian took to Instagram to express her gratitude for the award and dedicated it to a friend who died of the disease.

“Thank you to the amazing doctors who donate their time and intelligence to find new treatments that can save lives, while also helping families affected by cancer,” she wrote at the time.
