Tinder launches new face scan verification for dating app users

The famous dating application has launched the new verification method that requires users to take advantage of the facial recognition technology to prove that it is a real person when registering for the first time in the application.

Technology – called Face Check – will be used to confirm that the person who participates in obtaining a short video of himself. The safety scale will then determine whether a person is real by matching his profile image.

As Axios was first informed, the new verification method launched on Monday, and at the present time, will only be required for users in California.

“Create a enjoyable and respectable environment where the real Tinder users can be our priority,” Philip Price, Vice President of Tender Communications, told Fox Business. “As part of our ongoing efforts, we always test ways to provide the best experience for our users to request original contacts.”

If the vital face examination decides that the user is qualified to register, the images recognition badge will be added to the user profile. Shortly after the identification of eligibility, the Selfie video that was presented will be deleted by saving only two shots to maintain the feature, according to the Tinder on the web.

The face examination will also be sure that the user’s registration does not contain multiple accounts, according to the application.

The verification process is separate from checking the Tinder ID because it does not depend on the government identifier.

Yoel Roth, President of Trust and Safety of Tinder’s Pripare, Match Group, told axios that the company believes that this is an insurance measure for users.

“We see this part of a set of identity guarantee options for users,” Ruth told Axios. “The verification of the face is supposed to be … is to emphasize that this person is a real person, not a greeting, not a robot or a deception account.”
