In a baffling post last month, president Donald Trump made what appeared to be a very confrontational plea to Attorney General Pam Bondi. His letter to Pam, in a post on his public page, urged the police chief to indict James Comey, the former director of the FBI.

Pam: I’ve reviewed over 30 statements and posts that say, basically, “Same old story as last time, all talk, no action.” “Nothing has been done,” Trump blasted his social media company, Truth Social. “We can’t delay any longer. It kills our reputation and our credibility. They removed me twice and charged me (5 times!) without anything. Justice must be served now!!! President D.G.T.”

At the time, some suspected that this highly personal post was meant to be a private message that the president had mistakenly released to the entire world. Then again, that kind of confusion would be highly unusual, even for Trump — would a sitting president conduct official business through his own social media app, bound by consequences?

Fortunately, Wall Street Journal Now setting the record straight. According to the newspaper’s sources inside the White House, the position was actually intended for Bondy’s eyes only. An unnamed official said that Trump was “surprised” to learn that the matter had become public, because he had specifically directed it to “Pam.”

If this sounds too stupid to be true, remember that Trump is notoriously digitally illiterate, doesn’t know how to use a computer, and once bragged that his son Barron could operate a laptop, as if that was a sign of technical acumen.

For her part, Bondi was reportedly furious. as Wall Street Journal She wrote, quickly calling the White House and Trump staff, who ended up sending a follow-up message an hour later saying the attorney general was doing a “fantastic job.”

Comey, a Trump hobbyist since his involvement in the infamous Steele dossier, was indicted five days later on federal charges.

Meanwhile, Trump’s poor understanding of social media continues to unravel. On Thursday, a photojournalist with news agency She picked up a handwritten letter from Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who looked visibly nervous, asking the president to make a social media post.

“You need to approve the Social Truth post soon so you can announce the deal first,” the memo said, referring to the peace plan between Israel and Hamas.

After about ten minutes, the president came out in a strange manner.

“I have to go now to try to solve some problems in the Middle East — even though I am very well represented by our Secretary of State,” Trump told right-wing influencers he was meeting. “Maybe he can do a better job than me, but who knows.”
