More Foggy Riding, Then Very Long Group Ride on a Nice Day – BionicOldGuy

The cold and fog I mentioned last week persisted but I was having a good ride anyway. Also, last week, Costco had a good sale on the GoPro Hero 13 cameras, so my wife bought me one as a Christmas present, and I tried it out for a couple of rides. I like it because it has voice activation so it’s hands free. I have tried both photos and videos. The images are great and you can also extract good still images from video frames. But I have to raise the camera stand because it catches my phone and the handlebars in the shot. This is easy to adjust for still photos but not for videos. I also need to get good at video editing so I can pull off short clips. So in this post I will only show some still images.

On Sunday I went on a long drive on a particularly foggy day. The cars were barely visible, only dim headlights in the fog. I was also afraid if anyone was driving with their lights off I might not see them at all. So I headed to the Coyote Creek Trail. By the time I got it, my vision had improved so I could see pedestrians and other cyclists well enough.

Yesterday my group toured the hills east of Gilroy, starting at the top of Robb Road at the entrance to Mendoza Ranch to Harvey Bear Park. I usually accompany my car on this trip with a friend, and keep my car upright. But I was having neck problems on long upright rides, so I decided to go from home recumbent, taking extra batteries with me. This made for a long ride, total ride time of 4 and a half hours. The nice part is that it was immediately sunny when I left the house.

Head onto Robb Road for the big climb up to Mendoza Ranch, which ends at a notch in the ridge ahead
