NYC mayoral defends plan to target ‘whiter neighborhoods’ with higher taxes

New York City mayor Zahran Mamdani doubled his plan to impose taxes on “more richer and white neighborhoods”, with an addition that he believes that billionaires should not be present.

Mamdani also repeated his belief that “we should not have billionaires”, despite the campaigns in the city, which is believed to have the largest number of billionaires in the world in 123 people.

“I don’t think we should have billionaires, frankly,” he said. “It is a lot of money in the moment of inequality. In the end, what we need is more than equality in our city, through our state, and through our country.”
