The Trump administration is said to prevent the Taiwan president from stopping in New York City, on his way to a diplomatic meeting in Central America, after the pressure of China.
The Financial Times reported on Monday that the administration was deprived of the Taiwanese President Lay Cheng Tim the opportunity to stop in New York City during a planned trip to Paraguay, Guatemala and Blaze-all countries that recognize Taiwan as an independent country.
However, on Monday, the President’s office in Taiwan issued a statement indicating that Lai “does not currently have any plans to go on a visit abroad,” according to Taiwan State Media. A source familiar with the issue in the Foreign Ministry confirmed that no official travel plans have been announced to President Lai.

According to the Financial Times, who spoke with unveiled sources, it was said to be closely aware of the alleged trip, the decision of Lay not to travel after he was informed that he would not be able to stop in New York City on his way to Central America.
According to what was reported, it was supposed to include a journey to stop in Dallas, but it is not clear whether the Trump administration was also planning to prevent any stop there too, according to the Financial Times.

The White House did not respond to the Fox News Digital request for comment. However, a source of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs familiar with this issue indicated that the Trump administration is still committed to the Chinese government’s long -term policy, which was rooted in the Taiwan Relations law, joint diplomatic agreements with China and pledges that the government has long set for regarding Taiwan and China.
Although it has been in line with the government’s policy for a long time, this step was criticized by some Asian politicians and Trump’s critics.
“The first concrete step” under Trump’s second term regarding Taiwan is “a cause of concern.”
“The assumption is this decision in the context of the ongoing commercial negotiations of the United States of China and the potential meetings of TROMP-XI,” Morris said.

The Trump administration’s decision to ban the Taiwanese president from stopping in New York City is because the president feels a possible trip to Beijing himself, along with American executives. Nothing has been placed yet on Trump’s trip.
