Trump admin pulling legal status for more than 530K migrants

The Trump administration will cancel the temporary legal status of more than half a million immigrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela who entered the United States legally, according to a notice published on Friday in the federal registry.

About 5,32,000 immigrants were asked to leave the country in front of the human conditional release and the accompanying work permits on April 24, giving them a month of official publication on March 25.

Migrants were allowed to travel directly to the United States after applying from abroad under a that started during the Biden administration that was designed to open legal immigration paths, but President Donald Trump commented the program when he returned to his post in January.

The program, Chnv, allowed immigrants and their direct family members to fly to the United States if they had American sponsors. They can remain in the country for two years under a temporary migration position known as the conditional release.

It was launched in 2022, it was first applied to the Venezuelan before expanding it to additional countries.

The Biden Administration has argued that ChNV would help reduce illegal crossings on the southern border and allow an improvement for people entering the country amid the flow of migrants entering the border between the United States and Mexico.

The Ministry of Internal Security criticized the Biden administration on Friday, on the pretext that the program failed to achieve its goals, the BBC said.

The agency said in a statement that Biden officials “gave them to them [migrants] Opportunities to compete for American jobs and undermine American workers; Civil employees were forced to promote programs even when fraud was determined; Then he blamed the Republicans in for the chaos that followed that and the crime that followed. “

But the notification in the federal registry said that some immigrants in the United States under ChNV may be allowed to stay in the country on the basis of each case separately.

ChNV helped about 213,000 Haiti entered the United States amid deterioration conditions in their country of origin, as well as more than 120700 Venezuela, 110,900 Cuban and more than 93,000 Nicaragua, according to the BBC.

Last month, the Ministry of National Security announced plans to end another nomination of migration, temporary protected situation, or TPS, for 500,000 Haitians who live in the United States legally. TPS was given to migrants from designated countries facing unsafe conditions, including armed conflict.

The agency also ended the TPS for Venezuelan who live in the United States, although this faces a challenge in court.
