Trump admin to use ‘skinny budget’ in pursuit of defense spending boost

On Friday, the administration of President Donald Trump is scheduled to issue its “slim” scheme that determines the spending numbers from the White House, which is expected to reflect a greater demand for the defense budget.

Exclusively senior officials of the management and budget office (OMB) told the Fox Business that the total estimated budget will be $ 1.7 trillion. The estimated budget excludes spending on medical and medical care, as well as social security and debt.

The defense budget is expected to exceed a total trillion dollars for the first time, and reaches 1.16 trillion dollars. This includes 892.6 billion dollars of estimated spending in addition to $ 119.3 billion of mandatory spending, which is reflected in the slim budget, in addition to an additional $ 150 billion to be passed in the upcoming reconciliation bill.

Senior officials said this is the place where the Trump administration can become creativity in obtaining the approval of the budget by congress. The Republican majority were historically forced to provide individual increases in the improper spending to secure the increases in defensive spending.

However, by maintaining estimated defensive spending at 892.6 billion dollars, the same level of the fiscal year 2025, the budget that will be provided to Democrats mainly reflects a defense budget that has not changed with a smaller estimated budget of about 557 billion dollars-by 22.6 %.

Then the Republicans in the White House and Congress plan to follow up on $ 150 billion in mandatory defense spending through the budget settlement process associated with the tax reduction package.

150 billion dollars in addition to $ 119.3 billion in a slim budget would reach a total increase in defense spending to about 13.4 %, and up to about 1.16 trillion dollars.

All departments were asked to provide budget discounts except for the sections of old warriors affairs and transportation, which were excluded to protect the services of old warriors as well as NASA programs and space exploration.
