Trump administration fires top NATO official identified by conservative group

The Trump administration dismissed a senior NATO official who recommended a conservative research group called as part of a wider effort to purify the Pentagon.

The Admiral Choshna Schides, the only woman in the NATO Military Committee, was rejected by the coalition during the weekend without explanation, according to multiple reports. She is one of a handful of three -star female officers, and she was the first woman to lead the Maritime War College, a job she occupied until 2023.

According to what Chelesal received a call from Admiral Christopher Jaradi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Common Staff, and we told us that the administration wants to go in a different direction with the job, according to Associated Press, citing officials. Officials said they believed that the decision last week took the Minister of Defense Beit Higseth, but it was not clear whether he had received any direction from President Donald Trump. Reuters was the first to report it.

It was not clear whether the shooting was linked to any American political trend in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

Trump and Hegseth were explicit in insisting that the so -called waked policies have died and strongly sought to remove leaders who strengthened diversity, fairness, integration, erasing Dei programs and online content. The United States Maritime Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, gives up approximately 400 books of its library with the Dei content.

In December, the American Accountability Corporation (AAF), a conservative research group, sent a letter to Higseth with a list of 20 general officers or senior Admirals who said they are excessively focused on diversity, fairness and integration (DEI) and other similar left -wing initiatives. AAF wrote that focusing on such policies is an obstacle to national security and Chatfield was one of eight women who prepared the list.

Chatfield has partially reached the list of 2015, where she stumbled that legislators in the House of Representatives at that time were 80 % male, declaring that “our diversity is our strength.” The group said that it also quoted a segment of a presentation by the Institute of Equal Opportunities for Defense, which highlights “investment in gender equality and empowerment of women can open human capabilities on a transformative scale.”

Chalefeld, a marine helicopter pilot who also led a joint reconstruction team in Afghanistan, was one of the 32 actors in the NATO Military Committee. The committee is the main source of military advice to the Northern Atlantic Council and the NATO Nuclear Planning Group, according to NATO. It is a relationship between political decision makers and NATO military structure.

senator Mark Warner, D-FA, Deputy Chairman of the Senate Selection Committee on Intelligence, said he was “very annoyed” by dismissing her while bombing Donald Trump.

Warner wrote on X.

Senator Jacques Reed, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, set out the president to shoot Cheles, describing it as “disgraceful”.

The Admiral Chelesteld is among the best military officers of our nation, and has distinguished herself as a US military actress for NATO. She will leave her 38-year-old career as a naval pilot, foreign policy expert and prominent military teacher-as head of the Naval War College-a permanent inheritance of the navy and all over the army. Admiral Chelestefeld recorded a non -flawless non -service service with President Trump’s behavior.

Reed also called the Republicans not to express their dissatisfaction with her dismissal, noting that Trump has launched 10 generals and Admiral since he took office. This is followed on Thursday’s removal to General Timothy Hawg, head of the National Security Agency and the US Internet Command.

For the Navy, the shooting follows its best officer, Admiral Lisa Franchiti, the first woman to become head of maritime operations.

“I cannot understand how anyone can stand silently while the president causes great harm to our army and our nation,” said Reed.

“I will continue to summon this unreasonable behavior and a warning to alert about the dangers of launching military officers as a test of political loyalty. I urge my Republican colleagues to join me in demanding an explanation from President Trump and Minister Higseth.”
