Trump Antisemitism Envoy Slams Walz Anne Frank Comparison

The Trump administration’s special envoy to combat anti-Semitism sharply criticized Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz for comparing it to a crackdown on illegal immigrant criminals. Holocaust And Anne Frank.

Walz was speaking to reporters on Sunday after 37-year-old Alex Peretti, an intensive care unit nurse at the US Department of Veterans Affairs, was shot during an encounter with immigration agents the day before.

During a news conference, Walz said some children in the state felt afraid to come out because of aggressive tactics used by federal agents.

“We have kids in Minnesota who are hiding in their homes, afraid to come out. A lot of us grew up reading the story of Anne Frank,” Walz said, referring to the German-Jewish teen who documented her life in hiding during Nazi persecution in World War II.

On Monday, Rabbi Yehuda Kaplun, Trump’s special envoy to monitor and combat anti-Semitism at the State Department, criticized the comparison, pointing to the difference between immigration law enforcement and genocide.

He added: “Our courageous law enforcement should be commended, not tarnished by this historically illiterate and anti-Semitic comparison.”

StopAntismism, which tracks anti-Semitic incidents, also responded to Walz’s comments.

“To those who invoke the Holocaust or Anne Frank to score political points while remaining silent while hatred of Jews explodes around the world: shame on you,” the group wrote Monday on social media. “Exploiting the murder of 6 million Jews while refusing to confront today’s violent anti-Semitism is not a memorial, but an insult to history.”
