Trump CMS nominee Dr. Mehmet Oz scrutinized on abortion, transgender views

Senator Josh Holie, R-MO, said that he is “skeptical” of the opinions of Dr. Mohamed Oz, especially in the procedures of transgender people for minors and abortion, and issued a series of questions on Wednesday in which he plans to ask President Donald Trump’s candidate to lead the medical care and medical services centers (CMS) while confirming.

“I read on Dr. Oz – I see that he praised phrases across minors and supported hormone treatments and puberty blockers for children in the past,” said Holie on Wednesday. “He also criticized the laws of the states that protect life. I hope he would change his views to match President Trump! We need the Trump agenda in CMS.”

In a series of written questions for Oz, Holi asked the former heart surgeon and the TV character if his views have changed since hosting a TV program.

Holie pointed out that Oz was in his presentation “various defenders of transgender people as well as the surgeon who performed the transgender surgery” and “children also called for discussing the replacement of the sexes and the parents praised them to help their children” move. ”

He also asked whether Oz would support Trump’s efforts to stop federal funding for hospitals that provide the so -called “gender care” of minors.

Hawly pointed out that Oz stated in the past that he did not want to “intervene” with doctors who describe puberty blockers for minor children and asked whether this was still his position.

Hawly pointed out that “the Biden administration has issued instructions via CMS, which indicates that the medical treatment law in emergency and active work law (EMTA) requires hospitals to conduct abortion and transgressing state laws.” Senator Oz asked whether he would return to Trump’s policy and “clarify that EMTA does not impose abortion.”

Finally, Holie indicated that CMS under Trump requires separate bills plans covering marketing plans in the ACA and Biden management of this requirement. He asked whether Oz would support Trump’s policy of “transparent bills practices and ensuring that consumers pay separate fees for abortion.”

If this is confirmed, Oz will have a health insurance for about 150 million Americans registered in Medicare, Medicaid or ACA coverage. As a CMS official, he can have great power on most health companies working in the United States, because he can make decisions about what Medicare and Medicaid covers.

Oz faced more than two and a half hours of interrogation on Friday before the Republican Senate Finance Committee, which has not yet voted whether it will be nominated to the full Senate to consider it. Hawly is not a member of the Finance Committee and Oz did not ask during the hearing last week.
