Trump dances with performers from Malaysia during Asia tour greeting

US president Donald Trump danced alongside Malaysian artists while receiving him on the first leg of his Asian tour.

The White House called his moves “the Malaysian version of the Trump dance” on social media. The show was part of a tribute to Trump by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

The five-day visit will see Trump meet newly elected Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaishi in Tokyo, as well as Chinese President Xi Jinping in South Korea.

Trump also oversaw the signing of the peace agreement between Cambodia and Thailand on Sunday.

The president watched Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul sign the expanded ceasefire agreement during the annual summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

The agreement requires Thailand to release 18 detained Cambodian soldiers, and for both countries to begin removing heavy weapons from the border.

“We did something that a lot of people said couldn’t be done,” Trump said.

Cambodia’s Prime Minister described it as a “historic day.” Thai Prime Minister He said the agreement lays “the basic building blocks for a lasting peace.”

Ibrahim praised the agreement between Thailand and Cambodia, saying during his opening speech at the summit, “It reminds us that reconciliation is not a concession, but an act of courage.”

After signing the expanded ceasefire agreement, Trump reached separate economic agreements with Cambodia and Thailand.

Trump also signed agreements with Malaysia related to trade and important minerals. The United States is expanding its supply chains to reduce dependence on China, as Beijing has limited exports of key components in technology manufacturing.
