Just a few years ago, travelers arrived in the train in Washington, DC, were insulated by: the Capitol building – the home of the country’s most powerful lawmakers – rising in the background and a shelter camp outside the Al -Ittihad station at the forefront.

While the city has removed many of the sprawling camps once near its iconic features and forced to retract many progressive policies in an attempt to reduce crime, the Trump administration is still not satisfied.

Many residents of Washington still avoid individuals with mental illness or suffer from drugs in their daily transportation. Last week, a government employee Trump Trump was attacked – the “last straw” that prompted Trump to spread the National Guard and give the Federal character to the Capital Police Department.

Trump pledged to expel the displaced residents, saying that the government “will give you places to survive, but far from the Capitol.” He said that a process began during the weekend to remove the homeless camps in the area.

A tour of the Fox News Digital found that many previously previous hot points were disinfected, with abandoned clothes and only scattered food containers as signs of the last life.

In other parts of the city – including the heart of the city center – the unique population continued to share places to sleep and gather in the gardens or in the crowded street corners.

In one of the hikers, about ten people were collected with their property and some tents, apparently unaware of the new repression. Dried red material has been sprayed across the sidewalk outside its temporary camp.

At another angle, a handful of individuals sleeps during the lunch time in the city, without disturbing due to the surrounding noise.

Trump threatens “federalism” the capital with the National Guard and more. Here is how it can play that

While most of the interactions with the homeless are worldly and not violent, the broader sense of uncomfortable has been seized in the city-driven by a series of prominent random attacks. Some include non -distinguished population members; Others are not, but collectively, they contributed to the perception that the capital became less safe.

Among them: The minor of fire opened a group of other teenagers in the Naval Square during the weekend; A 21 -year -old trainee was shot outside a metro station during his home last month; Two employees at the Israeli embassy were shot outside an event at the Jewish Capital Museum in May.

However, the capital was more dangerous in the past. The city reached its lowest level for 30 years in violent crimes in 2024; 35 % decrease from the previous year. This year, 26 % decreased last year last year at this time. Crime crimes decreased by 12 %, cancer 37 %, 28 % theft and 20 % to attack with a dangerous weapon.

Violent crime reached a temperature in 2023 with 274 murders. In 2024, there were 187.

Trump called for statistics that show a decrease in the “fake” crime and said his administration would look at this.

“It has become a complete and young situation,” the president said. He added that MPD and federal authorities will be supported by 800 national guards and perhaps “much more.”

The groups designated to help the homeless spoke against the management step.

“Anyone can be exposed to the risk of displacement,” said the Ministry of Georgetown’s Ministry of Georgown Center – an agency funded by the private sector that focuses on the services of the homeless – in a statement. “When our most vulnerable and criminalized our citizens are the demon of our common skin.”

The Capital City Council described Trump’s move “a manufacturer on the local authority.”

“There is no justification for the Capital Police Administration because there is no federal emergency. Moreover, the National Guard has no training in public safety or knowledge of local laws. The role of the guard does not include investigation or resolving crimes in the province. The call to the National Guard is an unnecessary deployment without a real task.”

“Public safety is based on confidence, consistent enforcement and societal strategies. We must make sure that we are in our endeavor, we do not create an atmosphere of monitoring, intimidation, or unequal treatment under the law.”
