Trump extends TikTok ban deadline by 75 days

President Donald Trump has extended the deadline for Tiktok for 75 days. Trump shared a publication on Truth Social on Friday stating that he signed an executive order to allow more time to finish the touches on the deal. This announcement comes just one day before the embargo is appointed.

“My administration was working hard on a deal to save Tijook, and we have made tremendous progress,” Trump wrote. “The deal requires more work to ensure the signing of all the necessary approvals, which is why I expect an executive order to keep Tiktok and run for an additional 75 days.”

Today’s announcement is the second time that Trump has extended the deadline for the Tiktok ban. The original date of the BYTEDANCE was to sell US Tiktok operations on January 19, according to a law signed by former President Joe Biden last year. However, Trump signed an executive order on his first day in his position to give the company another 75 days to conclude a deal.

Before signing the executive order, Tiktok was briefly taken in non -connection mode and removed from Apple and Google stores before it is finally restored.

Bloomberg stated that Trump reviewed a proposal from a group of American investors, including Oracle, Blackstone and Andressen Horowitz on Wednesday. The proposal is said to be a great competitor for a possible deal. Other interested parties include the Amazon, confusion, billionaire Frank McCtte project for Liberty Consortium, Wall Mart, Applovin, and more.

It should be noted that the Chinese government will need to agree to any deal before completing it. In addition, the Bytedance did not show any interest in selling Tiktok or reducing its share in the social network as required under the Tiktok Ban Law.

The move comes a few days after Trump announced the full tariffs, as a 34 % tariff rate imposed on China. Trump has previously stated that it may reduce the definitions of China to facilitate the Tiktok deal.

In his post, he announced the extension of the Tiktok prohibition, Trump stated: “We hope to continue working in good faith with China, whom I understand is not very happy with our mutual definitions (necessary for our fair and balanced security between China and the United States of America!) We look forward to working with Tiktok and China to close the deal.

In response to the definitions, China said on Friday that it will impose a 34 % tariff on imports of all American products.
