Schumer, Schiff, Jewish Democrats blast President Donald Trump over Harvard funding freeze

Five Jewish Democratic Senate members demanded answers from President Donald Trump at the expense of differentiation and integration behind the punishment of Harvard University, the Faculty of Medicine and other group institutions throughout the country under what they called the pretext of anti -Semitism on the campus.
Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer from New York and felt Adam Chef from California, Jackie Rosen from Nevada, Brian Chatez from Hawaii and Richard Blumenant from Connecticut, while they said they agreed on the scourge of anti -Semitism over time.

Al-Khamasi called on Trump’s decisions to freeze Harvard’s financing and focus on other schools, as anti-Semitic behavior and protests abound last year “broad and external attacks”-adding that they were “troubled and disturbing” through his decisions.
The legislators said that Trump’s actions “seem to go beyond combating anti -Semitism” and within the scope of “using what is a real crisis as an excuse to attack people and institutions who do not agree with you.”

“They seem to aim widely to change the way the university operates, and huge penalties are compatible with ways that are not completely related to anti -Semitism, and instead we fear that they aim to undermine or even destroy these vital institutions while hiding behind allegations of hostility as an exchange procedure.”

They offered the olive branch to seek to work with the Republicans to combat anti -Semitism, but they repeated their beliefs that Trump’s initiatives are “simply a way to end” so that the covered by his ideological opposition.

In a tweet about the message, Blumenthal called anti -Semitism “a real and terrible threat in universities – and it should be done – but it should not be exploited as an excuse to target universities and oppose silence.”
