Nestlé appoints new CEO after ousting leader over workplace relationship

Nestle C, based in Switzerland, appointed a new executive director after its former leader was expelled in an inappropriate relationship in the workplace less than a year in this role.

The company said that Laurent Frexcis was removed after investigating a romantic relationship with direct subordinate violating the rules of Nestlé’s behavior. Freixe leaves the company without an exit package.

The Chairman of the Board Paul Polky and the independent director Pablo Isla supervised the investigation.

“This was a necessary decision,” Polky said. “I thank Laurent for the years of his service in Nestle.”

In the same statement, Polky said that Philip Navratil will take over as CEO.

“Philip has been recognized for his impressive record in achieving results in difficult environments,” Polky said. He is famous for its dynamic presence, and he inspires the difference and leads in a cooperative and comprehensive manner.

“The council is confident that it will push our growth plans forward and accelerate efficiency efforts,” he added. “We do not change the course about the strategy, and we will not lose performance.”

Navratil began his career in Nestlé in 2001 as the company’s references behind trademarks such as Nespresso, Perrier, San Pellegrino and GERBER.

Later, he played several roles in Central America, including the rural director of Nestle Honduras in 2009.

Four years later, he led coffee and drinks in Nestle in Mexico, which enhances the Nescafé brand.

The company noted that in 2020, Navratil moved to the coffee strategic business unit in Nestlé, where he was responsible for forming a global brand strategy.

In July 2024, work began with the Nespresso brand, and in January 2025, he joined the Nestlé Executive Council.

He said, “I am honored by the confidence that the Board of Directors set up inside me, and it is privileged to bear the responsibility of the Nestle leadership to the future,” he said. “I completely embrace the company’s strategic direction, as well as the work plan in force to pay Nestle’s performance.

Navratil added: “I look forward to working closely with the leadership of the entire company, according to the Council with the Board of Directors, the Chairman of the Paul Bulcke Board, and Pablo Isla, to accelerate the implementation and pay the value construction plan intensively.”
